New radiology equipment keeps Parker Adventist at the cutting edge of technology
Apr 01, 2008|
Parker Adventist Hospital has recently acquired some of the latest radiology equipment available. The Siemens Arcadis C-Arm, the System II Stryker Navigation System and 64 Slice CT Scanner now equip Parker’s operating room and emergency department for some of the latest minimally invasive procedures and offers significantly improved outcomes for patients. The capabilities the Siemens Arcadis C-Arm and the System II Stryker Navigation System bring to the operating room are nothing short of amazing. The Arcadis C-Arm is able to take high quality, 3-D images and send them in real time directly to the navigation system. With GPS tools, the navigation system is then able to detect the location of the tools and show them on the images acquired from the C-Arm. This allows surgeons to increase accuracy, while being less invasive. In addition to the increased surgical capabilities, the equipment increases decreases radiation exposure to patient and staff and reduces operating room time. The 64 slice CT Scanner is a high speed piece of scanning equipment that takes 64 slices or images in one tube rotation. This is a vast difference when compared to the 10 slice scanner that takes just 10 images in one rotation or older scanners that could only take one image at a time. The higher speed and 64 images, allows for clearer images of the heart in multiple slices in rapid sequence so that cardiac motion is reduced. In addition to improved diagnosis, this new scanner will further improve patient flow in the emergency department. Whether improving a diagnosis or allowing less invasive procedures, Parker Adventist Hospital is committed to putting the latest technology in the hands of our doctors and medical staff so that we can ultimately provide the best possible care to our patients. |
