Flu Shots

This year’s seasonal flu shot contains the H1N1 vaccine, so only one shot is necessary. The shot is recommended for everyone over the age of 6 months; FluMist (a nasal spray vaccine) is available to people ages 2 to 49. The flu vaccine is recommended for pregnant and breastfeeding women to provide protection to themselves as well as their babies. Even if you received a flu shot in 2009 or 2010, it is recommended that you still get this vaccine. Parker Hospital is offering five flu shot clinics this fall. The cost will be $25 for the shot and $30 for FluMist. There is no charge for members showing cards for Medicare Part B (not HMO) Humana Gold or Rocky Mountain Health Plans. Clinics will be held from 4–6 p.m. at the hospital on Oct. 5, 7 and 20, and Nov. 8 and 9.
