Our cardiology team specializes in interventional cardiology, providing non-surgical treatment for cardiovascular disease. Cardiologists use catheterization treatments including angioplasty and stent placement to treat structural heart disease and to open narrowed arteries caused by coronary artery disease. Parker Adventist Hospital receives American Heart Association's "Get With The Guidelines" Gold Performance Achievement Award
The American Heart Association proudly recognizes Parker Adventist Hospital as a Get With The Guidelines - Heart Failure Gold Performance Achievement Award Hospital for 2011. This award highlights Parker's achievement of a consecutive 12 month interval of 85% or higher adherence to all "Get With The Guidelines" Heart Failure Performance Achievement Indicators to improve quality of patient care and outcomes.
Under "Get With The Guidelines," Coronary Artery Disease (CAD) patients are started on aggressive risk reduction therapies such as cholesterol-lowering drugs, aspirin, ACE inhibitors and beta-blockers in the hospital and receive smoking cessation/weight management counseling as well as referrals for cardiac rehabilitation before they are discharged. Hospitals that receive the "Get With The Guidelines" CAD Gold Performance Achievement Award have demonstrated for at least one year that 85 percent of its coronary patients (without contraindications) are discharged following the American Heart Association's recommended treatment guidelines.
