Joshua Long, MD
Dr. Long joined Parker Adventist hospital after completing his bariatric surgical fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a leader in innovative, minimally invasive surgical training. During his tenure there he participated in the development of novel laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques in addition to mastering laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic roux-en-Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic gastric banding, Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILS)TM, robotic surgery, and advanced endoscopy.
He is highly skilled in a full spectrum of surgical and non-surgical weight loss techniques, and places an emphasis on attention to diet, exercise, and nutritional education. He uses this comprehensive strategy to maximize and maintain patient weight loss and the successful resolution of comorbid disease. Because Dr. Long is only satisfied with perfection, his complication rate is one of the lowest in the region. He is recognized by his peers for his superior surgical technique, and patients enjoy his warm, genuine empathetic concern for their long-term weight loss success and improved quality of life. Allison Galloway, FNP-C, MS, SA
Allison is our Bariatric Coordinator, Nurse Practitioner and Surgical Assistant in the operating room. She is a Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and Masters Prepared Nutritionist with over seven years of experience in the field of Bariatrics. Allison has a comprehensive background in healthcare including nursing experience at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Denver, ownership of an independent nutrition practice in Boulder, Colorado and a partnership with the Women’s Health and Menopause Center in Denver. She worked at the Colorado Bariatric Surgery Institute as their coordinator and assistant in the OR. She looks forward to assisting you in your weight loss journey and looks forward to meeting each one of you!
Kristy Severson, RN, CNP, CNS
Kristy is a bariatric nurse practitioner, who joined the practice from Duluth, MN. She has over six years of experience as an advanced practice nurse working in bariatric surgery. Kristy obtained her Master’s Degree from The College of St Scholastica in Duluth, MN in 2006 as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. She began working at Essentia Health in Duluth, MN as a Bariatric Program Coordinator. In 2011, she obtained her Family Nurse Practitioner certificate and began assisting in surgery, in addition to her coordinator role. She is also a registered nurse in the Air National Guard. Kristy is passionate about providing holistic care to patients and helping them achieve a new state of health.
Linsey Bishop, RD
Linsey is our program dietitian. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Applied Health Science with a minor in Psychology at Indiana University. She became a registered dietician following an accredited internship at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Linsey’s career includes experience at Exempla Lutheran Medical Center, Porter Adventist Hospital and Parker Adventist Hospital. Her passion is developing relationships with patients and working with them through their journey to healthy living.
Shannon Smiley, RD
Shannon is our Bariatric Coordinator and also one of our Program Dietitians. She has been a Registered Dietitian since 1998, with the past five years specialized in the Bariatrics field. Prior to entering Bariatrics, Shannon worked as a Dietetics Educator and Counselor for U.S. Military Personnel in Germany and as a Clinical Nutrition Manager for one of San Diego’s largest hospitals. Shannon graduated with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Nutrition from Cal Poly University in San Luis Obispo, CA, and completed her Registered Dietitian Certification at San Diego State University. She is also certified through the American Dietetic Association as a Weight Management Counselor. Shannon is passionate about educating patients from all walks of life and assisting them through their weight loss journey. Aimee Kluczynski, LCSW
Aimee is our bariatric social worker. She is a masters prepared LCSW with over sixteen years of social work experience including individual, family and group therapy; as well as hospital case management. She enjoys partnering with her patients and following their journey towards wellness.
