Dr. Long joined Parker Adventist Hospital after completing his bariatric surgical fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, a leader in innovative, minimally invasive surgical training. During his tenure there he participated in the development of novel laparoscopic and robotic surgical techniques. In addition he performed a broad array of
procedures including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, laparoscopic roux-en-Y gastric bypass, laparoscopic gastric banding, Single Incision Laparoscopic Surgery (SILSTM), robotic surgery, and advanced endoscopic procedures.
Dr. Long is highly skilled in the full spectrum of surgical and non-surgical weight loss techniques, and places an emphasis on attention to diet, exercise, and nutritional education. He uses this comprehensive strategy to maximize and maintain patient weight loss and the successful resolution of comorbid disease.

Dr. Thomas Brown is a board-certified, general and bariatric surgeon who has over 27 years of clinical experience in performing general surgery, 14 of which have been recently dedicated to the practice of bariatric surgery. Dr. Brown is one of the leading laparoscopic surgeons in the Denver area, demonstrating skill
and experience in executing 3,500 bariatric surgical procedures, including the gastric bypass, the Lap-Band, gastric sleeve, and bariatric revisional surgery. When doing bariatric surgery, Dr. Brown performs 99% of his procedures laparoscopically. Following is a brief history of his medical education,

Dr. Metz is a Board-Certified, Fellowship Trained, Bariatric Surgeon. Additionally, Dr. Metz has been certified as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence Surgeon by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. In this capacity, Dr. Metz has completed
specialized training and continuing education in bariatric surgery as well as performed a high number of surgeries each year. Dr. Metz has also been named a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He led Parker Adventist Hospital to achieve the designation as a Bariatric Surgery
Center of Excellence (BSCOE) in 2010.
Dr. Metz was recruited to Denver from the Cleveland Clinic, one of the most well-known Minimally Invasive and Bariatric Surgery Fellowships in the country. While serving in this capacity, Dr. Metz performed over three hundred Advanced Laparoscopic and Endoscopic Procedures. Since arriving in Denver in 2007, he has
performed more than 1500 additional cases including Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding, sleeve gastrectomy, single incision laparoscopic procedures (SILS™), revisions, and advanced endoscopic cases. Dr. Metz is the first bariatric surgeon in the region to offer the laparoscopic
loop duodenal switch.
Dr. Metz’s complication rate remains one of the lowest in the region, despite being a surgeon who specializes in high-risk, complex cases.
